Hear from one of our country’s foremost researchers on violence against women about the neurobiology of trauma and sexual assault cold case survivors.  Dr. Campbell will explain how the brain responds to trauma and the impact of trauma on victim participation in the criminal justice system. In particular, participants will gain an understanding of the way trauma affects victim participation in cases that are “reactivated” after many years have passed. Learn how trauma affects a victim’s reaction to the crime and the ability to remember details of the assault.   

  • Dr. Rebecca Campbell, Professor of Psychology at Michigan State University, is nationally recognized for her ground breaking research on the effectiveness and improved criminal justice outcomes gained through the use sexual assault nurse examiner programs.

Who should participate? Victim advocates, law enforcement, prosecutors, Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners/Sexual Assault Forensic Examiners, therapists, and anyone who works with sexual assault survivors.
