Evaluation of In-Prison Programming for Women

The National Center has partnered with the Urban Institute and the National Institute of Justice to evaluate the programming and services that state departments of correction (DOC) provide to women who are incarcerated and who have experienced victimization and trauma. This evaluation consists of phone and web-based interviews with all 50 state DOCs, all 50 state-level victim services coalitions, and various staff in 15 women’s prisons. The project plans for future work conducting case studies of five state DOCs to document promising and innovative prison-based victim services models, which will be utilized to develop a typology of victim services strategies that can be used to inform the conceptual design of future research studies and service delivery.
