The intern reports to a staff member on the Center for Victim & Survivor Services (CVSS) team. The CVSS mission is to promote safety, healing, and justice for victims and survivors of crime by meeting their individualized needs, upholding victims’ rights, and enhancing community and national responses to harm. We offer survivor-centered services that help people who have been harmed find support and move forward. We operate the VictimConnect Resource Center (VCRC) and DC Victim Hotline (DCVH), providing confidential and anonymous support to all victims of crime 24 hours a day/7 days a week.
We are seeking an intern to help support the CVSS, which may include a number of possible projects such as research into a variety of victim service related topics, the development and implementation of resources, guides, and toolkits to support the delivery of trauma-informed services for visitors to our hotlines. This internship provides an opportunity to build your resume with a variety of skills while learning how a non-profit organization serving all victims of crime operates from the inside.
- Support the CVSS team in creating and implementing deliverables and objectives for NCVC projects, such as:
- Assist with identifying resources for victims of crime.
- Assist with adding resources to the VictimConnect Resource Center Map.
- Assist with developing handouts and tools for VCRC and DCVH Victim Assistance Specialists.
- Assist with partner outreach and engagement.
- Assist with developing social media campaigns.
- Assist with research and grant reports
- Attend project meetings, conferences, and training as needed.
- Complete any documentation as required by your school, if applicable
- Interest in victim issues, victim service provision and/or trauma-informed approaches;
- Excellent written communication skills;
- Strong research skills;
- Creative thinker and problem solver;
- Attention to detail and prioritization skills;
- Basic computer skills; web site/html experience beneficial;
- Cooperative teamwork style;
- Ability to work independently and virtually.
