National Center for Victims of Crime is dedicated to serving individuals, families, and communities harmed by crime. Based in Maryland, NCVC was established in 1985 has become the nation’s leading resource and advocacy organization for victims of all types of crime and for the people who serve them. We have played a critical role in shaping the national discussion on the impact of crime and what victims need in order to recover.
The Senior Director - Legal Services is an active participant on NCVC’s leadership team. This is a high-level position that is expected to engage in innovation and thought leadership that promotes growth of NCVC’s legal service offerings through diversified funding, strategic alliances, and new program possibilities. In this role, the Senior Director leads a team in national-scale delivery of direct services to victims/survivors, training and technical assistance (TTA), information, resources, and services to victim service professionals.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Providing budget and financial management and approvals for specified grants, projects, and programs, including budget development, monitoring, and modifications
- Providing high‑level leadership, supervision, and management on specified projects, programs, and grants, including all grant reporting requirements and compliance regulations
- Overseeing and tracking grants relating to the provision of legal services for crime victims and other assigned project and program deliverables
- Identifying and establishing new partnerships with professionals and organizations with similar missions
- Identifying gaps in the field and developing, delivering, and expanding professional trainings (webinars, e‑learning, in‑person, and other modalities) for internal and external audiences
- Assisting the events team with national conferences and other events as needed
- Developing new programs and identifying new funding opportunities
- Overseeing development of technology, data training, and orientation procedures for specified grants relating to the provision of legal services for crime victims
Preferred Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate and a minimum of 5 years practicing law
- Minimum three years of professional experience in nonprofit management
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in training and technical assistance, ideally with midsized to large nonprofits focused on victim services, criminal justice, justice‑involved youth, education, or related fields
- Hands‑on experience with project management and grant writing
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability and willingness to travel as requested
