Responding to Original Victims of Wrongful Conviction Cases with Healing Justice

Post-conviction exonerations cause pain and suffering to the victims of the original crime. Many victims only learn of the exoneration through the media, with no prior notification and nowhere to turn to get answers or needs addressed. The Healing Justice project aims to identify the specialized needs of original victims and to improve support and services available to them through the publication of resources for practitioners working with original victims, media reporting on the wrongful convictions, and peer-to-peer outreach materials.
